Finnish & EU legal research in Claude

The laki-ai plugin gives Claude Code and Claude Cowork grounded, citable legal research over MCP — Finnish statutes with full version history, case law (KKO, KHO), preparatory works, Verohallinto tax guidance, and collective agreements, plus EU treaties, the Charter of Fundamental Rights, regulations, and directives.

Requires a Laki.ai account

A free Laki.ai account is enough — the free tier works with the plugin. You sign in once through your browser on first use; there is no token to manage.

Get started

Install the plugin from its marketplace, restart your session, and sign in once through your browser. The plugin registers the Laki.ai MCP server for you — it points Claude at the endpoint below.

In Claude Code, run: /plugin marketplace add Helsinki-AI-Labs/laki-ai-claude-plugin
Then run: /plugin install laki-ai@laki-ai-plugins
Restart your session so the plugin’s MCP server is loaded.
Run /mcp, pick laki, and choose Authenticate — a one-time browser sign-in finishes the setup.

The plugin bundles the Laki.ai MCP server configuration — no manual server setup. Pick the path that matches how you use Claude.

Claude Code

Install straight from the plugin marketplace inside a Claude Code session.

Claude Cowork / plugin directory

Once the plugin is accepted into the community plugin directory, you can install it from there instead — in Claude Code via the claude-community marketplace, or in Claude Cowork by browsing the plugin directory. Until then, use the marketplace command above.

Prefer a token or another agent?

Codex CLI, the Claude Agent SDK, and the Anthropic API MCP connector reach the same server with a Personal Access Token — no plugin needed. Claude Code also works without the plugin. See the coding-agents guide.

Requirements

A Laki.ai account — the free tier works with the plugin.
Claude Code, or Claude Cowork once the plugin is available in the plugin directory.
A one-time browser sign-in on first use (run /mcp, pick laki, Authenticate).

Authentication & data

The plugin authenticates with a one-time browser sign-in (OAuth): Claude Code stores the token and refreshes it automatically, and you can revoke access at any time from your Laki.ai account settings.
